Marshall Bang is a Korean-American singer professionally known as Mrshll. He is a Korean popular(K-pop) music singer and songwriter. Also, He is the 1st male idol who is openly gay.
1. Early age of Mrshll
Bang was born in Orange County, California, in a scriptural Christian family. His family used to attend church every Sunday. His interest in singing and music was developed in the high school show choir. Marshall Bang attended Biola University after graduating from high school. With the passage of time, he got suffered from LPR(A condition in which acid that is made in the stomach travels up the swallowing tube and gets to the throat.). After some time he attended cosmetology school in Los Angeles, where he first met openly gay people. One of his favorite bands is Hyukoh. Also
2. Starting career years of Mrshll
Marshall Bang was a contestant in the Korean singing competition “Star Audition”. So, in 2012, Marshall moved from New York City to Seoul to complete the audition. After completion of the competition, he remained there to start his singing career.
Marshall Bang released his first music in March 2017, co-writing and singing on two tracks for DJ Friz’s album The Record, Vol. R . He soon signed to Tiger JK and Yoon Mirae’s record label, FeelGhood Music later that year and became the first openly gay artist to appear on Korean national TV, singing his part in the single “Again” which he co-wrote with 3rd place contestant Woo on season six of hip hop competition program, Show Me The Money 6.
He officially debuted on June 5, 2018 with his solo mini-album “Breathe”. He subsequently released a mixtape, Alien Issa Mixtape later that year featuring the title track “Rull It Out” featuring miss A’s Min and AOMG rapper Ugly Duck. After a slew of features and collaborative albums, he released a solo single “Mirage / Caress” in late January 2020.
3. Personal life
Marshall Bang is first openly gay. Marshall revealed this thing publicly in an interview with a global magazine “Time out” and was described as the first openly gay K-pop singer. Marshall’s gay friends helped in his first official music debut. It was also said that Mrshll’s friends warned him as well that coming out would be social suicide. Band also said that his mother, an scriptural and pastor, has not accepted him.
