The KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) exam is conducted to find out highly motivated students for doing basic science courses and research careers in science. This program is a Fellowship in Basic Sciences which is funded and initiated by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. 

The goal of the program is to find students with talent and aptitude for research, help them realize their potential, and encourage them to take up research careers in Science. It also ensures the growth of the best scientific minds for development and research in the country. Candidates have to complete KVPY registration to appear for the exam. After successful completion of registration, candidates can visit the online application form page. They have to fill in the required details, choose the test centres and upload the required documents. Payment of fees is done after filling the online application form.

Steps to Complete Registration

Students are highly recommended to go through the instructions carefully before filling in the registration form. For first-time users, registration is compulsory.  Following are the steps to complete the KVPY registration: 

• Open the website, kvpy.iisc.ernet.in.
• On the home page, click on the Application link for the KVPY aptitude test.
• Students will be redirected to a new page where there is an option to register. All the important instructions to be followed for the process can be seen.
• Students should go through all the instructions.
• Then click on the “Click here for registration” button to access the KVPY registration form.
• Enter the details. Check whether all the details entered are correct.
• Click on the ‘Register’ button to finish the registration.

Students will get their login ID and password via email and text message, after successful registration.

Prerequisites for Registration

As per the announcement of the exam conducting authority, a valid mobile number and email ID are mandatory for the registration. The email ID and mobile number should be active till the declaration of results. Any updates and important information with regard to the application and examination will be sent to the registered email/mobile number. Candidates are requested to create his/her own new email ID before filling up the online application if he/she does not have a personal email ID. Also, note that the mobile number is unique for registration. The same number cannot be used for registration again.

KVPY Application Form

IISc releases the online KVPY exam applications on the official website www.kvpy.iisc.ernet.in. KVPY application form is available for stream SA, SX, and SB. The students are advised to fill the form without making any errors. The candidates can pay the exam fees online. The application fee is Rs.1250 for the general category and Rs. 625 for ST/SC/PH/PwD. Students have to upload a scanned passport-size photo (image size should be less than 150 kb), 

and a scanned signature, (size of the file should be less than 80 kb). PwD candidates are required to upload a scanned pdf copy of the medical certificate.

Candidates should verify the details before submitting the form. The exam conducting authority will not allow any changes once the application form is submitted. Also, the candidates are requested to take multiple printouts of the application form and keep it safe for future reference.
